Bormotukha

Bormotukha

Bormotukha (Russian бормотуха) is a common name for cheap fortified wines that were produced in the Soviet Union, similar to American "bum wines". They were often officially called "port wines", but were of significally lower quality than real port wines. The most well known brands of bormotukha are Agdam, Solntsedar and 777 (the latter is still produced in Russia).

After Gorbachyov's prohibition laws, production of most bormotukha brands was cancelled. In the present time, only the 777 "port wine" is still in production in Russia.
