Bansi Kaul was born August 23, 1949 in
Srinagar ,Jammu and Kashmir [ [http://www.culturebase.net/artist.php?1289 Bansi Kaul at culturebase] ] , and later graduated fromNational School of Drama (NSD), New Delhi in 1973.He started his career as a director with NSD Repertory Company [ [http://www.nsd.gov.in/Annual_Report_2005-06.pdf NSD Annual Report] ] and was also in the faculty of the school for many years, before forming his own theatre group in 1984.
He was awarded the
Sangeet Natak Akademi Award award in 1995.His most known performance is 'Kehan Kabir', based on collected works of poet-saint
