- John Turner (architect)
John Turner (1806-1890) was an English architect, noted for his ecclesiastical buildings.
Life
John Turner was born in Holborn, London in 1806 [1851 Census of England Class: HO107; Piece: 1478; Folio: 195; Page: 18; GSU roll: 87801.] and married Fanny Louise Carter (1807-1884) in 1839. [Register of Births Marriages and Deaths, St George, Hanover Square Vol 1 Page 56] He had two children, John Goldicutt (1841-1892) and Joseph Edward (1842-1898) both of whom died without issue. He actively practised as an architect and surveyor in London between 1830 and 1868. [Directory of British Architects 1834-1900, comp. A. Felstead, J. Franklin and L. Pinfield (RIBA, 1993)] before retiring to
