Westfield, West Lothian

Westfield, West Lothian

Westfield is a small village of around 180 houses located in Torphichen Parish in West Lothian, Scotland. The village was focused for many decades on a local paper mill that closed in the 1990s. Much of the housing in the village was or is owned by West Lothian Council but there have been recurrent plans for major new private housebuilding since the 1970s, as yet unfulfilled.

The village has a primary school and post office/shop. It was formerly a paper-making centre and a fish-meal works is still operating near the village.

Westfield forms part of Linlithgow Constituency and is represented in the Sxcottish Parliament by Mary Mulligan and in the UK Parliament by Michael Connarty (both Labour).

Westfield is part of Armadale and Blackridge Ward on West Lothian Council and is represented by Stuart Borrowman (Independent), Jim Dixon (Labour) and Isabel Hutton (Scottish National Party). The village has had at least one SNP councillor since 1963, the longest continuous representation by that party anywhere.
