The river Simme is a tributary of the river Kander in the
Bernese Oberland in thecanton of Bern inSwitzerland . It's approximately 60 km long and has a catchment area of 594 km².The river Simme's spring is on the Rezli alp to the west of the mountain
Wildstrubel near the village ofLenk . Underneath the Rezli alp it forms the "Simmenfälle", several waterfalls, which have, altogether, a drop of 200 m.Then the river passesLenk and flows towardsZweisimmen , where it flows together with the "Kleine Simme" (Little Simme), which flows down from theSaanemöser mountains. It is approximately 10 km long.From
Zweisimmen the Simme flows through the Upper and LowerSimmental ("Ober-" and "Niedersimmental"). Near the village ofWimmis the Simme joins the river Kander.
