Ursuline Academy is an independent college preparatory day school for young women in grades 7-12. Located in the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Boston, USA, it is owned and operated by the Ursuline Sisters, a world-wide teaching order. The Academy is a private Catholic school located on a twenty-eight acre campus in Dedham, Massachusetts. It provides education in all areas and offers over 20 clubs and 10 varsity sports, all award winning. The "Boston Globe" has praised Ursulines' athletes, the Bears, as winning the Singelais Award for maintaining a 3.0 GPA or higher and excelling in their chosen activity.

History

The first Ursuline Academy in the Boston area opened in Charleston in 1819, but in 1834 the school was burned to the ground by a mob. In 1946, the Ursuline Sisters returned at the request of then-Archbishop Richard Cushing and began anew with a small school on Arlington Street. In 1957, the growing school relocated to its present site. [ [http://www.ursulineacademy.net/history.htm History] Official site.]
