- Tiziano Aspetti
Tiziano Aspetti (1557/1559 - 1606) was an Italian sculptor of the
Renaissance . He was born inPadua , and active mainly there and inVenice . He completed both large and small sculpture in bronze. Among his large works are bronze statues in the facade ofSan Francesco della Vigna and of "Saint Anthony" and many other sculptural decorations for theBasilica of Sant'Antonio of Padua .An excellent portrait of Aspetti (c. 1592) is held in the British Royal collection [ [http://www.royalcollection.org.uk/eGallery/object.asp?category=AAPICTURES&object=405988&row=124| "Portrait of Aspetti" by
Leonardo Bassano ] .] . In 1604, he moved toTuscany and died inPisa . He completed a bronze relief of the "Death of St. Lawrence" now in the church ofSanta Trinita in Florence.References
