Armour Square, located on the southwest side of
Chicago , is one of the 77 officially defined Chicago community areas. Armour Square is also the name of one of threeneighborhoods within the community area.The Armour Square neighborhood, located at the south end of the community area includesU.S. Cellular Field and was the site ofComiskey Park , is anchored by Armour Square Park.Places of interest
U.S. Cellular Field
U.S. Cellular Field is the home of theChicago White Sox baseball team. Next to it is the former location of the Sox old parkComiskey Park , which stood from 1910-1990.Chinatown
Chinatown is in the near South Side (located in the Armour Square community area), centered on and around Cermak and Wentworth Avenues, and is an example of an American
Chinatown , or ethnic-Chinese neighborhood.It is not to be confused with an area sometimes called "New Chinatown", which is on the North Side around Argyle Street, and which has a larger number of Southeast Asians.
The Armour Square neighborhood also has a large population of Italian-Americans and Croatian-Americans.
Mass transit stations
Armour Square is served by the Dan Ryan branch of the
Chicago Transit Authority 's Red Line, with stops at Cermak-Chinatown and Sox-35th.External links
