James Meredith (born April 4 1988 in Albury, New South Wales, Australia) is an Australian footballer, currently playing for Shrewsbury Town.

Career

Meredith started at Derby County in 2004, playing consistently for Derby reserves and played a key role in the youth team that won the league in 2005, claiming academy player of the year. He had loan spells at Cambridge United and Chesterfield. However after signing a two year professional contract, he didn't break into the first team at Derby, and left a year later in the summer of 2007 for experience elsewhere. Meredith then joined Irish Premier League side Sligo Rovers for the start of the 2007-08 season.

On January 122008 after trials with Stoke City and 1860 Munich he signed for Shrewsbury Town by manager Gary Peters on a one-and-a-half year contract. In July 2008 Meredith was told that he did not figure in new manager Paul Simpson's immediate plans
