- Joseph Flint
Joseph Flint (
April 23 ,1840 —November 2 ,1912 ) was an Englishcricket er. Flint was a right-handed batsman and a right-arm round-arm slow bowler who played for Derbyshire between 1872 and 1879. He was born and died inWirksworth , the same town as fellow 1872 debutant George Frost.Flint debuted in two matches against Lancashire, the first of which Derbyshire lost by an innings margin despite Flint leading the bowling attack with fellow round-arm bowler
Dove Gregory . This was not to discourage him from appearing further for the team, and he appeared in all four first-class matches played by Derbyshire during 1874, while securing himself a spot as a sturdy tailender batsman, as well as, on occasion, a tight, economical bowler, the likes of which were witnessed in a game against Lancashire in which Flint's bowling analysis read fourteen runs from fifteen overs, with four wickets.Though Flint spent two years out of the game between 1876 and 1877, he returned with a vengeance the following year, picking up six wickets in his return game against Lancashire. However, Flint was only to last one further season before leaving the team at the age of 39.
