Location
ChangePoint moved into its new building (a former seafood factory) in the spring of 2005 to accommodate rapid growth. Services began in Summer of 2006 with the Grand Opening in Fall of 2006. The more than 200,000-square-foot (19,000 m2) building includes a 35,000-square-foot (3,300 m2) children's wing, auditorium, atrium, conference rooms, offices, a commercial kitchen and about 50,000 square feet (4,600 m2) of space that is currently empty that the church could eventually develop as growth demands.
Children's Center
AdventureLand at ChangePoint is the Alaska themed children's center designed not only for the children of ChangePoint but also as a community resource. Beginning in the Fall of 2007 a portion of AdventureLand was been home to the Anchorage School District's German immersion school during the weekdays. AdventureLand was designed and built by Wacky World Studios from Florida. Wacky World is known as one of the premier "Theme Room" companies in the world. ChangePoint currently has approx. 1,000 children attending the weekend services.[citation needed]
Aiding the Community
Cold Weather Emergency Shelter - in January 2011 ChangePoint began using their facility as a Cold Weather Emergency Shelter for homeless families in Anchorage. This is in partnership with the Churches of Anchorage and the City of Anchorage.
Thanksgiving Blessing Project - ChangePoint annually contributes more than $10,000 to the Anchorage Thanksgiving Blessing Project. The funds are used to feed approx. 900 families Thanksgiving Dinners that otherwise would not have been able to afford them,
Two Dollar Offering - This unique idea began at ChangePoint in the fall of 2010. The church encouraged all members to give $2 and that money would then be used to meed practical needs in the Anchorage community. Almost $6,000 was given and the finds went to meet several needs, including outdoor winter clothes to dozens of children who were identified as "homeless" and without proper winter wear. Downtown Soup Kitchen - ChangePoint runs the "Downtown Soup Kitchen." In an August 25th article in the Alaska Journal of Commerce, it was stated that the DSK is serving almost 500 meals per day to the homeless and working poor in Anchorage.
