John W. "Candy" Nelson (1849 in Brooklyn, New York – September 4, 1910 in Brooklyn, New York) was a shortstop in Major League Baseball. He played 13 seasons between by|1872 and by|1890 for nine different teams in three different leagues. In 1890, he was the oldest player in the American Association at age 41.
