Justice Sir Sarat Kumar Ghosh (1878 – 1962) was an ICSofficer and anIndia njurist . He was the son ofRai Bahadur Tarini Kumar Ghosh,Inspector General ofRegistration of theGovernment ofBengal . He was married to Lady Nirajanalini Ghosh (nee Dé), the second daughter of Brajendranath Dé,Esq. , I.C.S..He was a student of
Presidency College, Calcutta , andTrinity College, Cambridge , entering the ICS in 1903. He was theDistrict Judge ofHooghly , appointed to the court there in 1929 and becoming a Puisne Judge by 1938, when he wasknighted . He became theChief Justice of the Indian Princely State ofJaipur and then the last Chief Justice of the Indian Princely State ofKashmir from 29th March 1946 to 29th March 1948. He was one of the last officials of the former regime in Kashmir to have left the state just before the first Indo-Pakistan war broke out in 1948.
