Roger Elizabeth De Bris is a fictional character who first appeared in Mel Brooks' 1968 movie, "The Producers", played by Christopher Hewett.

He is a homosexual theatre director, described by Max Bialystock as the worst director to have ever lived. The character returned in the 2001 Broadway musical of the same name, and also in a 2005 Hollywood movie, which was based on the musical. Both times he was played by Gary Beach. He lives with his equally flamboyant partner Carmen Ghia and his production crew in a house described as an Upper East Side town house in New York.

Personality

*In the 2001 musical and 2005 film, he was given the role of Adolf Hitler in "Springtime for Hitler" after Franz Liebkind breaks his leg running into the theater.

*Some critics have speculated that Brooks included the overtly gay characters of Roger De Bris and his male "secretary" Carmen Ghia so that audiences would not perceive an unintended homosexual subtext in the friendship between Max Bialystock and Leo Bloom.Fact|date=October 2007

* De Bris is described by Bialystock as the worst director to ever live, and was chosen by Bialystock in an attempt to ensure that "Springtime for Hitler" would flop.
