Clare Magee

Clare Magee (March 31, 1899 - August 7, 1969) was a U.S. Representative from Missouri.

Born on a farm in Putnam County near Livonia, Missouri, MageeGraduate of Unionville (Missouri) High School. Student in Kirksville State Teachers College in 1916. During the First World War served in the United States Navy as a seaman first-class and small-arms instructor. Homesteaded in Big Horn Basin, Wyoming, and worked as a laborer for the United States Reclamation Service at Deaver, Wyoming, in 1920 and 1921. He graduated from the University of Missouri in 1922. He was admitted to the bar in 1922 and commenced the practice of law in Unionville, Missouri. Has owned and operated farm where he was born since 1932. Postmaster of Unionville, Missouri from 1935 to 1941. He served as a private in the Field Artillery, United States Army, in 1942 and as a captain in the Army Air Corps 1942-1944.

Magee was elected as a Democrat to the Eighty-first and Eighty-second Congresses (January 3, 1949-January 3, 1953). He was not a candidate for renomination in 1952. He resumed the practice of law. He died in Unionville, Missouri, August 7, 1969. He was interred in Unionville Cemetery.
