ZX81 as a birthday present in 1981. He went on to develop non-commercial networking tools and online games primarily for the Spectrum [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zx_spectrum] and BBS services [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bulletin_board_system] .By his early teens he had become a self-taught programmer specialising in computer communications, networking and online games and in 1993 he started work as a network consultant for a successful, family-run VAR [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Value-added_reseller] in Surrey, England where he remained for several years.
After an online encounter (in
Meridian 59 with the then Associate Editor of PC Gaming World magazine (the UK's answer to CGW [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Computer_Gaming_World] ), he switched careers and became one of the world's first online game reviewers. It wasn't long before he was invited to join the full-time editorial team of the prestigiousPC Magazine . Within a year of joining Ziff-Davis, he was promoted to the position of PC Magazine's Online Editor and soon became embroiled in the awkward tensions arising from the print-versus-online publishing schism of the late 90's.In 2000 he was invited to join
Vivendi , which was soon to become Vivendi-Universal, in order to launch their online gaming network, WON.net (World Opponent Network ) in the UK. At the time the service was the online home to games as diverse as "Homeworld ", "Half-Life", "Counter-Strike " and myriad traditional casual games.In 2001, Kerry left Vivendi-Universal to found the virtual world development company, RedBedlam, and in 2006 RedBedlam became the first British developer to successfully complete a fully 3D MMORPG,
Roma Victor , which saw commercial release in May of that year.Kerry is married, with two children, and continues to live in the South of England in spite of his deep affection for France, Germany and Ireland, which are all countries in which he has lived and worked at some point in his life.
