Alacranes Musical (E: Musical Scorpions) is a Mexican band produced by the
Alejandro Garcia that playsduranguense music. The band has released several albums since its formation in November 1998, and in 2007 was nominated for a Latin Grammy. [ [http://www.allmusic.com All Music Guide] ] Their hits "Si Yo Fuera Tu Amor" and "Por Tu Amor" reached #2 and #4, respectively, on Billboard's Latin Regional Mexican Airplay chart. Recently, their new single "Por Amarte Así," a cover of theChristian Castro song, has topped the Billboard Charts at number one for several weeks in a row. "Por Amarte Así" has also, according to Billboard, been the number one downloaded ringtone as well.The Alacranes Musical hail from the Chicago suburb of Aurora, Illinois. They are all born in Chicago but consider themselves 100% Mexicans.
The group specializes in a genre of Mexican music known as "Duranguense" or "El Pasito Duranguense", which means the "Durango Step".
Duranguense has a fast-paced beat and a cowboy image based on musical traditions from the rugged western State of Durango in Mexico. Many people consider Chicago as the capital of duranguense because there are so many immigrants from Durango living there.
Many believe the musical genre actually originated in Chicago instead of in Mexico. The genre exploded in popularity in the late 1990s and 2000s. Fans enjoy it for its upbeat character and because they can dance very close to their partner.
The members of Alacranes Musical include:
Guillermo "Memo" Ibarra,Omar "Teddy Bear" Sánchez,Oscar Urbina Jr.,Héctor Urbina,Rudy Avitia,René Urbina,Chris Urbina,and Eric Urbina.
Most of the members are from Durango, Mexico. Both Omar Sanchez and Guillermo Ibarra share vocals.
The group has had many conflicts in their career but are still together. Singer Sergio Feredrico left the Alacranes in 2007 and formed his own group, Aliados De La Sierra.
Alacranes Musical are nicknamed "Los Príncipes De La Musica Durangense".
Alacranes concerts are known to be lively and entertaining attracting a large number of women who come to see Memo and Omar.
They are well known all over the world. Their largest concert drew 30,000 people to the The Rainbow Ballroom in Fresno, California.
Alacranes Musical came out with a new single called “Dame Tu Amor” which was featured on their new album “Tu Inspiración”, which launched in late summer of 2008.

Alacranes Musical Young Hip-Hop Group Omar Sánchez formed a Spanish rap group called Y.S.C. in Tyler, Texas. Their six artists, Byrron Boykin ,José Vano, Juan Hadden, Fremmy Martínez, Gordy Javier, and Devon Shoutton. These young artist are recording an album and will be released in 2009. The most recognized artist of the group is José Vano who has has made tracks with Daddy Grande in 1998. Their newest signed artist Byrron Boykin who is from Lakeport, Texas. Recently he sign with Astro Harmony Recordz label the summer of 2008. There upcoming album will be called "Los Choloz De Texas". Mr. Sánchez says the young artists are very talented, and he expects them to have underground hits.
