Mumbai which started operating inIndia in2000 . InJune 22 ,2004 ,eBay acquired all outstanding shares of Baazee.com, for approximately US $50 million in cash, plus acquisition costs. It has since been rebranded as ebay.in, and has over 2 million registered usersFact|date=February 2007.On
December 17 ,2004 , Baazee.com's CEOAvnish Bajaj was arrested under section 67 of theInformation Technology Act for transmission of obscene material throughelectronic media . The arrest was related to the illegal sale of pornographicCD s through the website in November 2007. The arrest was condemned by the Indian National Association of Software and Service Companies, which called it a "draconian approach" of the law enforcement agenciesFact|date=February 2007.
