Philip Chenier (born
October 30 1950 inBerkeley, California ) was a professional basketball player. After playing forBerkeley High School and theUniversity of California in Berkeley, Chenier played professionally for theWashington Bullets in theNational Basketball Association from 1971 to 1979. He won a championship with the Bullets in 1978. He also briefly played for theIndiana Pacers andGolden State Warriors .Chenier was a 1972
NBA All-Rookie Team selection, averaged 17.2 points per game for his career, and was named to three NBA All-Star teams. He has announcedWashington Bullets andWashington Wizards games for years, now working forComcast Sports Net alongside play-by-play commentator,Steve Buckhantz .Chenier currently resides in
Columbia, Maryland . His son, Phil Jr., followed his father into basketball, and is a coach forWilde Lake High School 's varsity basketball team.
