Pons de Capduelh

Pons de Capduelh

Pons de Capduelh, Capduell, Capdveyll, Capdveill, Capduoill, Capdoill, Capdolh, or Chapteuil (f;. 1190–1237) was a troubadour. His songs were known for their great gaiety. He was probably acquainted with the trobairitz Clara d'Anduza.

Pons was exiled from his homeland in the middle of the second decade of the thirteenth century and travelled "per Proensa" (to Provence) in order to depart with the Fifth Crusade, around 1220, to visit the Holy Land, where, according to tradition, he died after participating in the conquest of Jerusalem.
