The United Nations Fund for International Partnerships (UNFIP) was established in March 1998 by then
United Nations Secretary-General Kofi Annan . UNFIP is responsible for administering and developing partnerships between the agencies, departments, and programmes of theUnited Nations and theprivate sector . UNFIP works with foundations and corporations that wish to support UN causes to identify opportunities for partnership and collaboration. In particular, UNFIP facilitates the UN's work with theUnited Nations Foundation , whichTed Turner established to donate $1 billion to the UN over the course of 15 years, though UNFIP has also worked closely with theBill & Melinda Gates Foundation , the [http://www.fordfound.org Ford Foundation] , the [http://www.rockfound.org Rockefeller Foundation] , the [http://www.synergos.org Synergos Institute] , and the [http://www.ltbfoundation.org LTB Foundation] , among others. Deputy Secretary-General Asha-Rose Migiro . The Fund's offices are located atUnited Nations Headquarters in New York.UNFIP is one component of the United Nations Office for Partnerships, which also includes the UN Democracy Fund.
