Haywood Mall is a shopping mall in Greenville, South Carolina, United States.

Description

Today, the mall is the largest mall in South Carolina with over 1,300,000 square feet. The mall's anchor stores include Belk, Dillard's, JCPenney, Macy's and Sears. As South Carolina's most upscale mall, American Eagle Outfitters opened and tested their first aerie division US store in Haywood. The mall also has 1 of the 2 Macy's Stores in South Carolina (The other one at Columbia Place Mall). As of August 2008, The Macy's store is currently renovating. The store has not been updated since 1980, when Rich's opened at Haywood Mall.

History

The Haywood Mall opened in 1980, two years after its main competitor, Greenville Mall. The mall's original anchors are Belk, JCPenney, Rich's & Sears. The mall had approximately 900,000 square feet when it opened. In 1995, Dillard's sought a larger and more modern store than their location at McAlister Square Mall. In 1996, Dillard's opened a new three-leveled department store. A new wing was also added to connect Dillard's to the mall. Belk added another mall entrance to connect to the Dillard's wing. A parking deck was also added for Dillard's & JCPenney. The rest of the mall was renovated in 2005. Rich's was converted to Macy's in 2005.
