Skeena (passenger train)

The Skeena is a passenger train service operated by Via Rail between Jasper, Prince George and Prince Rupert .

Introduction

The Skeena operates three times weekly, departing Jasper on Wednesday, Friday and Sunday, the return service departs Prince Rupert on the same days of the week. The service increases to four per week in the peak season from mid-May to end of September.

The Skeena conveys Comfort Class, Totem Class and during the peak period Totem Deluxe class. In Comfort Class, you can buy reasonably priced food from the food cart (sandwiches for $4.50, chips and chocolate for $2.00 etc.), and there is one powerpoint in the carriage. There is also access to a microwave and hot water, if you wish to bring your own food. Totem Class is treated to three hot meals a day, as well as glass ceilings in the carriage.

Staff are extremely friendly and offer commentary throughout the journey.

It offers a connection at Prince Rupert between the BC Ferries service to Port Hardy, and a connection at Jasper to the Via Rail The Canadian to Vancouver and Toronto.
