History
The Langham, Boston is a 1922 renaissance revival style building. When it was first built it served as the
Federal Reserve Bank , established by presidentWoodrow Wilson .Fact|date=September 2007 The building was designed to look like thePalazzo della Cancelleria , inRome , with its granite exterior, life-size equestrian statues, and painted dome ceiling.Fact|date=September 2007Located in the former Federal Reserve Bank building, The Langham, Boston combines its rich history with all the contemporary features of a luxury hotel. Formerly the Governor's Reception room, The Julien Bar and Lounge contains two historic N.C. Wyeth murals in addition to its elegantly carved doorways, gilded ceilings, and motif of corncob. Directly next to the Julien Bar & Lounge are the Governor's Rooms, which contain a Norman B. Leventhal map collection of historic Massachusetts maps. As the hotel was previously a bank, the first floor has long, skinny windows as to keep the building safe from intruders. The original entry-way doors off Pearl Street still contain the gold coin moldings, and the bank vault is now used as a pastry kitchen. The Julien Bar now houses the four large lamps with gold coin emblems that used to be at the Pearl Street entrance.
The hotel was branded a Langham Hotel in January 2003. Each of its 318 rooms, including 17 suites, are unique in size and shape as the rooms conform with the original building structures. Rooms facing Pearl Street have a view of Post Office Square Park.

Julien Bar & Lounge
Originally the reception room for the governors of the Federal Reserve Bank, the Julien Bar & Lounge's carved doorways, gilded ceilings, and motif of corncob, serve as an elaborate reminder of the grand Renaissance Revival period. Two N.C. Wyeth murals, commissioned by the Bank's governors in 1923, decorate the Julien Bar’s paneled walls. The Julien Bar & Lounge features a 101 martini menu and nightly piano music by Jeffrey Moore.
