Gert Fylking

Gert Fylking

Gert' Sten' Fylking, born on October 7 1945 in Storkyrkoförsamlingen in Stockholm, is a Swedish actor, journalist, politician (Christian Democrat) and anchorman in the radio programme Rix MorronZoo on Rix FM, where he is known by the nickname Fylking Sverige. He has contributed to many theatre productions, films and TV-programmes. He is married to Tanja Fylking; they have six children and they live in Stockholm. He is a friend of Robert Aschberg, Hasse Aro and Lennart Jähkel, but especially of Christer Pettersson (since their childhood).

To mention just a few, Gert Fylking has worked as postman, in a printing press and in a bicycle workshop, as car mechanic, bath attendant, tour guide, horse-minder, storage supervisor, as construction worker at a tree-garden, newspaper-deliverer, painter, cheese-merchant in a cheese-storage, transporter of TV-sets, dishwasher, waiter and also ran a tavern. During his compulsory military service he served as coastal ranger and left the Kungliga Sjökrigsskolan (Royal School of Naval Warfare) in 1967.

Presently, together with Titti Schultz and Roger Nordin, Gert Fylking is anchorman of Rix MorronZoo at Rix FM. He is also known for his case of bursting out in a loud exclamation ("Äntligen!" - meaning: "At last!") when the name of the winner of the Nobel Prize in Literature (Gao Xingjian) became announced in 2000 (and once again he did the same next year, in 2001). Nevertheless, he made peace with Horace Engdahl on the radio and ceased his exclamations - however, others took over this "tradition" he had created and still continue to exercise it.
