Louise Caire Clark (born 1948, New Orleans, Louisiana, USA) is an American actress.

Biography

Her mother was an actress and model. When Ms. Clark was age six, she and her mother moved to Los Angeles, California. In early years, she was exposed to other actors and took speech and voice lessons but did not have much interest in acting at the time. She took an interest in painting and sculpture instead.

At age 15, the family moved to New York where Ms. Clark developed an interest in acting. She took a summer course at a neighborhood playhouse and went on to attend the Actor’s Studio, studying with Lee Strasberg.

Ms. Clark married and moved back to California with her husband. She did not enjoy acting in California due to the studio structure. She and her husband left to start a small production company. They also started a family. They had two sons, Mathew, born in 1976 and Michael, born in 1980. Ms. Clark and her husband eventually divorced.

At age 34, Ms. Clark tried to get back into acting but was turned down. Ms. Clark went back and demanded an audition. She was sent to an audition for Disney's then upcoming TV series, "Five Mile Creek" which was to be filmed in Australia. She was given the role and relocated. She remained in Australia for two years until the show was cancelled. Upon the shows termination, she returned to the United States with her two sons.

Ms. Clark has acted sporadically in smaller roles on occasion. She has also appeared in over 300 television commercials, including the "Harry and Louise" advertisements that helped defeat the 1993 Clinton health care plan. Ms. Clark later remarried. In 2000, she produced the movie, "The Testimony of Taliesin Jones".

She currently lives in Washington, DC with her husband Ben Goddard who wrote and produced the infamous "Harry and Louise" political ads run buy the insurance industry in opposition to the Clinton health reform efforts.
