The T-1 is series of fictional robots in the film "". It is an autonomous military robot. In a deleted scene, its full name is given as the "T-1 Battlefield Robot."

Characteristics

The T-1 is portrayed by three full-scale remote controlled robots, the only differences from its movie counterpart being that it is not artificially intelligent or armed with weapons. Its design is loosely anthropomorphic, a "head" with sensors for eyes, gatling guns for arms, a "torso" that swivels like a human one, and caterpillar tracks for legs. While it is quite large, it is small enough to get around typical office building corridors. The T-1s are given the designations of "T1-"n", with n being a sequential number for each one.

Creation of the models was overseen by veteran special effects artist Stan Winston.

Role in the series

Several instances of the T-1 appear in the present-day setting of "Terminator 3", the year 2004. The T-1 is touted as the U.S. Military's most advanced battle robot. They are warehoused in a U.S. Air Force development facility, and several T-1s become activated in the course of the film. The T-1 is never called a "terminator" in the film; however the film implies that all terminators subsequently created by the military and Skynet are descendants of the T-1. Arnold Schwarzenegger confirms that this implication was the intention of the filmmakers, in the DVD commentary for "Terminator 3".
