and were used for many purposes.
Later they were put into the
Teotihuacán ruin s and went into another long sleep. When their creator, Pyron, came back to Earth, one of the robots awakened again and prepared to complete its given orders once again. Later, due to a malfunction, Huitzil carried out new orders: to protect a young boy named Cecil. When the primary unit, who befriended Cecil, was destroyed protecting him from Jedah, its last act was the reactivation of all the Huitzil units to protect Cecil.Game Play
In the course of the Darkstalkers and Nightwarriors series Huitzil had one of the most unconventional jumps of any character. While the speed of his jump was relatively fast Huitzil tend to hover for a full second before descending. The player could forcibly interrupt the hover by holding the direction downwards and commence the descent; a jerky feel of the jump was present causing some awkwardness. To counter the hovering, Huitzil possess a fairly versatile aerial dash with a diagonal trajectory. Only skilled Huitzil players manage to take advantage to the few benefits of the hover, including the AI itself. The unique jumping style is typical of the Darkstalkers series as each character possesses a unique jumping style (for example
Anakaris floats instead of jumps). When Vampire Savior was released 1997 he was not present and removed from the line up. During the Game's release on home consoles (Mainly the Sega Saturn.) Huitzil/Phobos was featured along with Pyron. In His most notable additions was his simplified control scheme including a modified Jump in which the hovering ability was removed. With the Hover being removed he became more manageable in the air especially for newcomers to the series.Huitzil's overall game play is meant to be on offense, based on his Special Moves. He possesses an array of
projectile s including the Arctic Laser, Grenade Launcher and the air-to-ground projectile Plasma Discs. The Genocide Vulcan, an anti air move, is also a projectile attack and does not launch the character in the air for an aerial assault compared to other typical anti air moves. Additionally, all his EX Moves are projectile based as well.Trivia
*In the "Night Warriors" anime, their role is slightly changed. They exist to prevent violent lifeforms from evolving on Earth and destroy any civilization geared toward violence. They are more than a match for a human but are easily beaten by the Darkstalkers though a group of them stunned Felicia considerably until Talbain saved her. They are allied with Pyron at first but they turn on him when they learn of this thirst for combat and send a giant version Huitzul to fight him which is easily destroyed by Pyron. It is unknown who built them. It can also be noted that the end of the film was left open to a sequel since the remains of the giant Huitzil were still functional in space but it went in to dormant mode saying that it needed more data on the fighters and cancelled the order to exterminate them until further notice. A sequel has yet to be confirmed.
*In the American cartoon, Huitzil appears only once (in a dark blue alternate color rather than his normal gold), and was built by the Aztecs to be a guardian of their land. He is reactivated by the fighting between the Darkstalkers and kidnaps Pyron, intent on sacrificing him to the Aztec gods. This forces the good and evil Darkstalkers to team up to fight Huitzil, as apparently Pyron being away from his ship for too long will cause it to blow up, destroying the Earth. Huitzil was destroyed and Pyron rescued, but at the end of the episode was seen pulling himself back together.
*The colors for the Huitzils in the anime are the same as their default colors in the original Night Warriors(which was grey rather than gold).
*In the Anime, Huitzil's eyes only open once, when they realise that Pyron is their primary target.
*Though described as "Mayan", Huitzil's design resembles ashakōkidogū , clay fertility figures from Japan'sJomon period . This is most prevalent when shown in his super-deformed image.
*Huitzil is theNahuatl word forhummingbird , and likely a shortened version ofHuitzilopochtli , the Aztec god of war.
*A running gag throughout the series is when Huitzil selects the wrong weapon and dropping a large chunk of ice. He then proceeds to try to rip his head out in confusion.
*Phobos (his Japanese name) is the Greek word for "fear," and is one of the moons around Mars.
*Huitzil appears in Pocket fighters as a combination jukebox/flower pot in Ken's background. Felicia is also able to turn into Huitzil and use his spiked ball attack.
*Huitzils appear inNamco x Capcom as enemies.
*In , Huitzils appear in B.B. Hood level 2 special attack.External links
