H. Garland Dupré

Henry Garland Dupré (July 28, 1873 - February 21, 1924) was a U.S. Representative from Louisiana.

Born in Opelousas, St. Landry Parish, Louisiana, Dupré attended the public schools, and was graduated from Tulane University, New Orleans, Louisiana, in 1892.He was subsequently graduated from the law school of the same university.He was admitted to the bar and commenced practice in New Orleans in 1895.He served as assistant city attorney of New Orleans 1900-1910.He served as member of the State house of representatives 1900-1910 and served as speaker 1908-1910.He served as chairman of the Democratic State convention in 1908.

Dupré was elected as a Democrat to the Sixty-first Congress to fill the vacancy caused by the death of Samuel L. Gillmore.He was reelected to the Sixty-second and to the six succeeding Congresses and served from November 8, 1910, until his death in Washington, D.C., February 21, 1924.He was interred in the Catholic Cemetery, Opelousas, Louisiana.
