- Zangmar River
The Zangmar River is a river in
Maku Shahrestan ,West Azarbaijan Province ,Iran . It originates in the mountains aboveMaku, Iran along the Turkish-Iran ian border, not far fromMount Ararat and flows south and east into the Araxes at the town ofPol Dasht .A major tributary of the Zangmar is the Barun River which is dammed at coord|39|11|17|N|44|28|55|E| some convert|12|mi|km above Maku, forming the Maku-Barun reservoir. The dam is rammed earth and
riprap with a clay lining Convert|78|m|ft|0 high, impounding some convert|135000000|m3|cuft|0 of water.
