- Elmore State Park
The Elmore State Park is a
state park located inElmore, Vermont . The history of the park began in 1934, when thetown of Elmore and several of its residents gave the state of Vermont a gift of 30acre s. This occurred during theGreat Depression , and the state set theCivilian Conservation Corps to work transforming the gift of land into a park. Originally, the park consisted of only abeach and picnic shelter. Since that time, however, the park's area has grown to convert|755|acre|km2|1, and the park is staffed by theVermont Youth Conservation Corps .The Elmore State Park, located along
New England Interstate Route 12 , now features acampground (added in 1963). The beach is arguably the largest draw, being popular with locals and visitors alike. OnApril 29 ,2002 , the Elmore State Park was placed on theNational Register of Historic Places due to its creation by the CCC. It has easy access tohiking trails onElmore Mountain .The state park is relatively close to the
Stowe Recreation Path , theTrapp Family Lodge , and theBen and Jerry's Waterbury, Vermont base of operations.Sources
