J. Alberto Soggin is a leading Italian
Biblical scholar . He took his first degrees in law at the University of Rome (La Sapienza) and is nowEmeritus Professor ofOld Testament at the Waldensian Faculty of Theology and Emeritus Professor ofHebrew at La Sapienza University,Rome . He became a professor of the Old Testament, Hebrew, and Greek at theUniversity of Buenos Aires , the Hebrew University inJerusalem and then until his retirement at the Waldensian Theological Seminary and at the Sapienza both in Rome. Among other things he was a fellow atPrinceton Theological Seminary , atSt John's College, Cambridge , and at theHebrew University . He lectured widely and published various articles and books. He was a member of the editorial board of Henoch, Vetus Testamentum and of "Zeitschrift für die alttestamentische Wissenschaft" ( Journal for Old Testament Scholarship).Works
