Thetakudi Harihara Subash Chandran is regarded by many as the foremost Carnatic (
South India n classical)percussion teacher. His students include top percussionists such asV. Selvaganesh ("kanjira "),N. Ramakrishnana ("mridangam "),N. Ganesh Kumar ("kanjira"), and many upcoming young talents around the world. He is an outstanding player of the "ghatam " and acknowledged as the greatest living exponent of "konnakol " (vocal percussion). He also performs on the "mridangam ", "kanjira ", and "morsing ". He is the son ofT. R. Harihara Sharma and the younger brother of "ghatam" maestroT. H. Vinayakaram . He is one of the few remaining exponents of "konnakol" or "solkattu", the art of producing percussion music through one's vocal cords.He has released the first instructional DVD for "ghatam" and "konnakol" in 2007.
