Laurence Richard Dimond Pyke (1908 - 1987) was an
Australia nheadmaster anduniversity dean.Pyke was the son of Richard, an accountant, and Lillian, a teacher, journalist and author. He was one of three children and was educated at
Wesley College, Melbourne . Pyke graduated as aBachelor of Science form theUniversity of Melbourne and was a Rhodes Scholar 1934 [http://www.unimelb.edu.au/unisec/calendar/honcausa/rhodes.html Rhodes Scholars Elected for Victoria] . From 1952 to 1960 he was headmaster ofNewington College ,Sydney , [http://www.newingtoncollege.nsw.edu.au/about/history.html Short History of Newington College ] and later dean of graduate studies at the University of Melbourne.
