Al Hidd (ArB|الحد) is a town in
Bahrain , located on asand spit on the southeastern extremity ofMuharraq Island . The town has a largelySunni population, ofbedouin tribal origin,huwala , orAfro-Arab s. About a third of the inhabitants of Hidd are ofOman i descent. [R. B. discovery of oil in Bahrain , the inhabitants of Hidd were largely involved in thefishing orpearl diving industries. Many of Bahrain'sfijiri performance groups are based in Hidd.Hidd used to be administed under its own municipality, but today it falls under the
Muharraq Governorate .South of Hidd town lies the Hidd Industrial Area, built onreclaimed land . In addition to several factories, the Industrial Area has built on it a large power plant, a waterdesalination plant, and adrydock (Arab Shipbuilding and Repair Yard or ASRY).Hidd lies south of the
Bahrain International Airport and Arad. The Shaikh Khalifa Causeway connects Hidd toJuffair onBahrain Island .References
