"Invisible Evidence" is the seventh episode from the of the popular American forensic crime drama "", which is set in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Plot Summary

During the preliminary hearing for a rape and murder case, it is established that no warrant was obtained for the search of the suspect's car. The judge therefore dismisses the bloody knife & towel. At Gil Grissom's asking, the prosecution asks for 24 hours to discover new evidence.

The whole team is pulled in to work the case. Friction between Grissom and the sheriff is displayed throughout the episode, although it's more a mutual understanding between the two. Sara Sidle tries to discuss her relationship (or lack of) with Grissom at one point, although he looks slightly confused by this. David Hodges annoys Grissom when he tries to show the other CSIs up.

The suspect's car turns out to have been accidentally crushed, leading Nick Stokes & Sara to have to "re-inflate" it. Catherine Willows revisits the crime scene and discovers semen on the toilet flush. Warrick Brown is confronted by the victim's relatives and walks off, leaving Nick to empathize with them. He later clashes with Warrick over this.

The discovery of car wax on the victim, the bed and the murder weapon lead the team to conclude that the suspect in custody is innocent. Suspicion falls on the car wash the suspect visited. After visiting the car wash and finding parts of the tail light in the drain, the staff are pulled in for questioning. The DNA matches a member of staff and he admits to having consensual sex with the victim. Dog tags belonging to the victim that were stolen and found after the new suspect tried to hide them lead to the arrest the new suspect.

This episode features the song "Love Spreads" by The Stone Roses and "5 Seconds" by Shortie.

The episode was originally scheduled to air on October 16, 2003. It was one of several first-run shows that were moved to later air dates because of the ratings juggernaut Fox was experiencing as the Boston Red Sox and Chicago Cubs were in their leagues' respective Championship Series and looking to have a shot to win their first World Series in 85 and 95 years respectively (though neither team did reach the 2003 World Series).
