FK Gyumri

FK Gyumri

FK Gyumri is an Armenian football club from Gyumri. The club made their first notable result being the second team of FC Shirak in 1997 Armenian First League, where they became the league's champions to win promotion to the Armenian Premier League. In those days it was still able for second teams to be promoted to the highest level, something which is no longer possible. As FC Shirak 2 they were able to keep their place in the Premier League, but due to the new rule where second teams were no longer able to be in the Premier League the club was split off from FC Shirak and changed their name into FK Gyumri. The new name did bring no luck as they finished ninth in the 1999 Premier League which resulted in relegation. In 2000 they would finish ninth again, but this time in the First League. After that season they would not return to professional football again.
