Roman Ludus

Roman Ludus

A Ludus was a Roman school attended by boys and girls until the age of 11. Ludii were to be found throughout the city of ancient Rome. Schools were run by a Ludi Magister who was often an educater slave of Freeman. School started around six o clock each morning and ended by just after midday. Students were taught maths, reading writing poetry geometry and sometimes Rhetoric.
