- Kasaragod Tulu
Tulu spoken in northernKasaragod i.e. Kasaragod Taluk ofKasaragod District in state ofKerala , is known as Kasaragod Tulu ( Malayalam Script: കാസര്ഗോഡ് തുളു).This is the Southwest geographical dialect of tulu. Manjeshwaram , Kasaragod District.imilarities
Malayalam language and Tulu language are closely related.Even the lifestyle of Tuluvas and
Malayalees are almost similar.For example, Tulu and Malayalee regions practiced matrilineal system of inheritance in past. [cite news|url=http://www.yawiki.org/proc/Gotra|title=Tuluva- Malayalee matrilineal system Similarities stated] However, very few communities have remained matrilineal now. Also the rituals of these two groups are similar as in case ofBhuta Kola for Tuluvas andTheyyam for Malayalees.Some of the similarities that are seen in Kasaragod Tulu or (general Tulu) and Malayalam are:
* "Bolpu" in Tulu means morning, same as "Vellupu" in Malayalam meaning morning as well.
* "Puchha" in Tulu means Cat similar to "Puucha" in Malayalam meaning Cat.
* "Undutanda" in Tulu means had your food.In Malayalam it is "Unduvo" meaning the same as in Tulu.
* Unlike Tuluvas in Karnataka, Tuluvas in Kerala can pronounce ഴ (ZHA),which is only seen in Malayalam and
Tamil language .* Like Malayalees, Tuluvas of the region can also pronounce the letter ര (RA),which is only present in Malayalam language.
* The almost extinct
