-
Near the Nepalese village of Marpha / Marpa there is a farm managed by the Pasang Sherpa, producing a wide variety of fruits including pears, apricots and apples. The fermented juices are used to produce the Marpa brandy, prized throughout Nepal. In Tukche, a district adjacent to Marpa, in the villages of Nirjal and Mana Sherchan, a brandy similar to the apple and apricot varieties produced in Marpa is found, which is distilled from orange juice. Also, the Bishnu Hirachan distilleries are renowned in Marpha village.
