2008 Machete attacks
On April 7, 2008 a group of youths, who were armed with baseball bats, samurai swords and machetes rampaged through the school corridors at 8.50 in the morning Sydney time.[2][3] The youths smashed school windows into pieces and assaulted one male and one female student during the attack. During the incident a male teacher trying to restrain the offenders was hit over the head and taken to hospital. The exact motive for the attacks is unknown but police do suggest that this attack might have been a retribution.[4]
