Government College of Engineering, Aurangabad (GECA) is a premier technical institute of Marathwada region in Maharashtra State of India that contributes to a complete technical and cultural education of the region. The official website of GECA is http://www.geca.ac.in. It was previously affiliated to the Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University and was established in the year 1960. The construction of the college was started in 1957 and was completed in the year 1960. Later on many new additions were made which include the new extension building that presently housed the Electronics and Telecommunication Department, Computer Science Engineering Department and the Information Technology Department. A new classroom block which will house the First Year classes and IT Department is completely constructed.

Now, the institute has been given autonomy since the year 2006, and the first year has already taken the autonomous examination. The college has also got the prestigious TEQIP (Technical Education Quality Improvement Programme) grant. Every year, it holds many national level and state level competitions round the year. Recently, it had held the prestigious national level IT Festival, Sporadica 007.

The college offer degrees in the following six disciplines of engineering:1. Civil Engineering2. Electrical and power engineering3. Mechanical Engineering4. Electronics and Telecommunication5. Computer Science Engineering6. Information Technology

In addition to this it also offers the Master in Computer Applications (MCA) Course.Moreover, the institute also offers PhD degrees, and offers research facilities, part time M. E. (Master of Engineering) and many other courses.

The admissions to the college are governed by the Directorate in Technical Education (DTE). The DTE holds the all Maharashtra State level MH-CET (Maharashtra Common Entrance Test), which is a compulsory examination to admission in engineering. There are no payment seats in this college and all seats are on merit basis. In the said examination, 50% of the seats are reserved for students from backward classes.

The college has been doing placements of students in eminent companies, and the total number has crossed 250 for the year 2006-07. Many placements for this year have also been completed.

The college is 2 km away from the Aurangabad Railway Station; 3 km away from the Central Bus Stand; and 9 km away from the Chikalthana Airport.
