The 3rd Regiment Michigan Volunteer Infantry was an infantry regiment that served in the Union Army during the American Civil War.

The 3rd Michigan Infantry was organized at Grand Rapids, Michigan, by Francis William Kellogg, who was named as its first colonel. The men were mustered into state service on May 21, 1861, and later mustered into Federal service for a three-year enlistment on June 10, 1861.

The regiment was mustered out on June 10, 1864. The regiment's veterans and recruits were assigned to the 5th Michigan Volunteer Infantry Regiment.

Total strength and casualties

The regiment suffered 4 officers and 154 enlistedmen who were killed in action or motally wounded and 2 officers and 89 enlisted men who died of disease, for a total of 249 fatalities.
