William Grady Stigler (
July 7 ,1891 -August 21 ,1952 ) was a U.S. Representative fromOklahoma .Born in Stigler,
Haskell County ,Indian Territory (now Oklahoma), Stigler attended thepublic school s.He was graduated from Northeastern State College,Tahlequah, Oklahoma , in 1912.He attended thelaw school of theUniversity of Oklahoma at Norman. During theWorld War I served as aSecond Lieutenant in the Three Hundred and Fifty-seventh Infantry of the Ninetieth Division in 1918 and 1919, with overseas service.He attended the University ofGrenoble ,France , in 1919.He was admitted to the Oklahomabar association in 1920 and commenced practice inStigler, Oklahoma . City attorney ofStigler, Oklahoma from 1920 to 1924.He served in theOklahoma State Senate 1924-1932, serving aspresident pro tempore in 1931.He served asLieutenant Colonel in the Forty-fifth Division of theOklahoma National Guard 1925-1938.Stigler was elected as a Democrat to the
Seventy-eighth Congress to fill the vacancy caused by the resignation of Jack Nichols.He was reelected to the Seventy-ninth and to the three succeeding Congresses and served fromMarch 28 ,1944 , until his death inStigler, Oklahoma ,August 21 ,1952 .He was interred in Stigler Cemetery.References
