oilcon =The BMW M57 is a straight-6 diesel engine produced from 1998. It won the "2.5–3 L" category of the International Engine of the Year award for 1999 through 2002. The updated twin-turbocharger version won that same award in 2005 and 2006.

M57D25

The Auto Lrev|152 M57D25 was the smallest member of the family. It produced Convert|120|kW|hp|0|abbr=on at 4000 rpm and Auto Nm|350 at 2000-2500 rpm with a 4750 rpm redline. It was introduced in 2000.

An updated Auto Lrev|152 engine, the M57TUD25, was introduced in 2004. It produced Convert|130|kW|hp|0|abbr=on at 4000 rpm and Auto Nm|400 at 2000-2750 rpm.

M57D30

The Auto Lrev|178 M57D30 (M57D29)was introduced in 1998. Two versions were originally produced, both at Convert|135|kW|hp|0|abbr=on at 4000 rpm but with either Auto Nm|390 at 1750-3200 rpm or Auto Nm|410 at 2000-3000 rpm. The power output was increased to Convert|142|kW|hp|0|abbr=on at 4000 rpm in 2000.

A high-performance M57TUD30 at Auto Lrev|182 was introduced in 2002. It originally produced Convert|160|kW|hp|0|abbr=on at 4000 rpm and Auto Nm|500 at 2000-2750 rpm, but was tweaked for Convert|150|kW|hp|0|abbr=on at 4000 rpm and Auto Nm|410 at 1500-3250 rpm for 2003 and again for Convert|200|kW|hp|0|abbr=on at 4000 rpm and Auto Nm|560 at 2000-2250 rpm in 2004.
