Originally dubbed "Drum and Bass for Goths" The Dark Poets are an electronic breakbeat outfit from the UK. They originally rose to prominence with their soundtrack for Alex Chandon's cult Cradle of Filth horror movie 'Cradle of Fear'. - Which gained the attention of Some Bizzare label boss Stevo Pearce signing The Dark Poets to Some Bizzare Records in 2006. The Cradle of Fear soundtrack was released by Silvascreen Records.

In 2006 they appeared on the Some Bizzare compilation titled Redefining the Prologue with their "Thrash Techno" track 'Crazy'.("A Bad Trip Inverse of Handbag House" - Mike Barnes - Wire Magazine) [Redefining the Prologue booklet, 2006] The record received good reviews.

The Dark Poets emerged to work with director Alex Chandon again in 2006 on his award winning short film 'Borderline' - which picked up the Saatchi award for best new director in Cannes '07 - the film and soundtrack went on to be used to promote the London 2012 Olympics.

Gary Lucas has recently (2007) collaborated on an album with producer James R Hunter's project "The Dark Poets" The album was executively produced by Stevo Pearce of Some Bizzare Records and features a dark eclectic mixure of dark moody drum and bass, techno and rock collaborations (most notably "Prime Time" - featuring vocals by Sarah Hilliard and James R Hunter) as well as many early collectable Gary Lucas tracks and collaborations (including original sketches of songs which went on to be used on Jeff Buckley's "Grace" album' including "Grace" and "Mojo Pin"). The album was released to good reviews, and included a remix on the album by British Techno legends The Grid

Following the release of 'Beyond The Pale' - The Dark Poets released 'the Judgement at midnight' (originally from their collaboration with Gary Lucas) on the Some Bizzare double album "The Only Failure is to Cease to Try" - overnight it became the albums top selling download.

This was followed by an appearance on the high profile Soft Cell Marc Almond/Dave Ball remix album (Soft Cell Heat: The Remixes (Universal/Mercury/SomeBizzare) - The Dark Poets remix of Soft Cell track 'Barriers' - which showed off Dark Poets producer James R Hunter's talent for quiet orchestral minimalism.
