Iran Aseman Airlines ( _fa. هواپیمایی آسمان) is an airline based in Tehran, Iran, Operates air taxi services and scheduled domestic and regional flights to the Persian Gulf area, as well as charter services. Its main base is Mehrabad International Airport, Tehran, with hubs at Shiraz International Airport, Mashhad International Airport and Dubai International Airport.cite news |title= Directory: World Airlines |work= Flight International |page= 94 |date= 2007-04-03]

History

The airline was established and started operations in 1980. It is owned by Iranian Civil Pension Fund Investment Company and is in the process of privatisation. It has 1,298 employees (at March 2007).

Flight 6895

On 24 August 2008 a Boeing 737, owned by Itek Air (a Kyrgyz company) and operated Iran Aseman Airlines, crashed near Manas International Airport near Bishkek, the capital city of Kyrgyzstan. Seventy one people were killed and 24 people survived the crash. This was the only 737 operated by Iran Aseman Airlines, with flights based out of Tehran flying to Bishkek (FRU) and Dushanbe (DYU). The aircraft was not owned or operated by Iran Aseman Airlines.
