Western Suburbs Magpies in the NRL. A local junior he played in every grade for the club from 1993-1999. Was first signed on a Scholarship and played all thru the juniors ranks until reaching 1st grade with the Magpies.He went on to play in the 1st grade squad for 3 seasons before moving to the UK.He then moved to
England at the end of the 1999 season where he joined Oldham (2000), Halifax (2000-2003) in theEnglish Super League . Then onto his current teamHull FC . He has also represented Ireland Rugby League Team.He won the
Challenge Cup in 2005 withHull FC at theMillennium Stadium ,Cardiff against theLeeds Rhinos , 25-24. Playing a staring role in the game putting in two decisive kicks. The first leading toHull FC 's first try. The 2nd giving them the ball again which let to the winning try.He also played a staring roll in the Hull FC side well beaten in the 2006 Grand Final at Old Trafford,
Manchester against St Helens.Shayne was player of the year for
Oldham in 2000 also picking up Clubman of the year awards and making the Northern Ford Dream Team of the year as the team fell one game short of making the Grand Final. He was player of the year for Halifax in 2001 and defensive player of the year in 2002.He will always be a firm favorite with the
Hull FC fans for his kick in theChallenge Cup final in 2005 which won them the game and also for his loyalty shown to the club when he was offer the chance to leave at the end of the 2006 season. He denied this chance to stay on for another season.Shayne's career with Hull FC ended as he suffered a dislocated shoulder scoring against Wakefield Trinity at Belle Vue. He needed an operation and his 2007 season finished early.
He has been named in the Ireland training squad for the
