The Bold Ones

The Bold Ones

"The Bold Ones" was the umbrella title for several television series. It was produced by Universal Television and broadcast on NBC from 1969 to 1973.

It was a wheel format series, an NBC programming approach also used by that network in series such as "The Name of the Game" and the "NBC Mystery Movie" [ [http://www.museum.tv/archives/etv/N/htmlN/nbcmysterym/nbcmysterym.htm The NBC Mystery Movie] from the Museum of Broadcast Communications] . During the four years of the series there were four segments:
* "" from 1969-1973 starred E.G. Marshall, David Hartman, and John Saxon (who was replaced by Robert Walden in the final season).
* "" from 1969-1972 starred Burl Ives, Joseph Campanella, and James Farentino.
* "" from 1969-1970 starred Leslie Nielsen and Hari Rhodes as police officials. The series was based on the TV movie "Deadlock"
* "" in 1970 starring Hal Holbrook and just like "The Bold Ones: The Protectors" based on a TV movie only this time "A Clear and Present Danger".

"The Lawyers" was nominated for three Emmy Awards in 1972, winning one for its music and another for its direction [http://www.emmys.com/awards/awardsearch.php Advanced Primetime Awards Search] from the Emmy Awards website] . "The Senator", which lasted for only nine episodes [ [http://online.tvguide.com/newsearch/detail.aspx?id=642302&sourcetype=e Bold Ones] , a listing from the "TV Guide" website] , earned nine Emmy nominations in 1971, winning five, including best drama, best "continued performance" by an actor (Hal Holbrook), and outstanding achievement in writing, direction, and film editing.

The series was rerun on TV Land in 1999Fact|date=February 2007 and can currently be seen on the Retro Television Network.
