The 188th Infantry Brigade is an AC/RC unit based at Fort Stewart, Georgia. The unit is responsible for training selected United States Army Reserve and National Guard units East of the Mississippi River. The unit was formerly designated as 4th Brigade, 87th Division.
The brigade was redesignated and re-missioned several times:
*In 1999 the 188th was merged with the 4th Brigade, 87th Division and carried that name and lineage.
